II. MINUTES
The minutes from the meeting held Tuesday, November 04, 2008 were
distributed via e-mail prior to the end of the respective month. The minutes
were read and approved, as written, with the following corrections:
1) None. However Darrel Jensen (President) motioned that the
Minutes be distributed via e-mail in the future and any changes be
brought up before or at the following meeting as opposed to
reading the previous month’s minutes at the meeting. In other
words, the club can save a lot of time if the minutes are not read
during the meeting and any changes communicated prior to the
next meeting.
Motion: Darrel Jensen; 2nd
: Scott Moore; Majority vote accepted. No other

changes have been suggested nor objections received as of the meeting date
for which these minutes are associated. All minutes are considered approved
unless noted otherwise within a reasonable amount of time.

III. TREASURERS REPORT
Treasurer, Dennis Church, reported a bank balance. Report accepted

V.
FLYING FIELD ISSUES
Field Marshall described the need to move the piles of soil to the infield
areas and the pit ends in order to reduce potential trip hazard and improve
the overall condition of the field. He also discussed the costs and logistics
involved in potentially widening the runway along the south and north sides
as well as improving the pit areas. Due to costs involved with asphalt, the
club elected to obtain up to 2 rolls of Geo-Textile fabric, which has been used
successfully at other fields, and cost ≈$370/ 4,500 – 5,000 sq. ft. roll..
Motion: Darrell Jensen; 2nd
: Roger Mickels; Majority Vote: Pass; Zero-Nay

IV. SAFETY ISSUES
Bill Hipp waxed and waned with respect to the safety ideas that had
been suggested in recent weeks. Bill mentioned that there was not as much
input from club members as he had expected. A summary of proposed safety
rules/suggestions was posted on the website and available as of January 06,
2009. A motion was made to adopt the rules as posted on the website at the
time.
Motion: Carl Waldvogel; 2nd
: LaRonzo Lott; Majority Vote: Pass; Zero-Nay

IV. OLD BUSINESS
None

V.
NEW BUSINESS
PRESIDENT’S DAY FLY-IN
Walt Fletcher has volunteered to be the event director and as such is
soliciting the help of all club members in accomplishing the multitude of tasks that
are necessary. A signup sheet was passed around, which will be given to Walt,
for those who can help out. Walt will be contacting various members forthwith. It
was asked that everyone aid in any way they can.
PR
Darrell Jensen read a letter to the group, which had been received from
Zions Bank, commending Carl Waldvogel, explicitly, and the club, implicitly, on
the work that has been done at the flying field, thus far proving to be an asset to
the community.
AMA FIELD DONATIONS
Ray Peterson said he had been gathering information regarding potential
AMA donations to qualifying clubs for field improvements. Ray said he would do
some further investigation. This is a timely opportunity for the club and could be
worth up to $5,000.

GATE ISSUE
Gary Stevenson mentioned that in at least one instance the gate lock
had been closed, but the combination had not been changed. Therefore, simply
pulling on the lock would open the lock. Once the lock has been unlocked, the
numbers must be changed in order that the lock actually locks as opposed to
having the appearance of being locked.

VI. FUN & GAMES
PAST EVENTS
(I’m not reporting on past events anymore. The details tend to get
spread around by word of mouth and if you don’t hear about it, or
inquire thereof, you probably don’t care anyway... at least not enough
for me to document it here. Please try to attend as many events as
you can and then neither of us will have to worry about it. “Peace-
Out!”, D.C.)

UPCOMING EVENTS
Boats & Floats (August 21 – 23, 2009)
Bill Hipp mentioned that the originally proposed date for the Boats &
Floats should be changed to the rd weekend in August (reflected above).
CALENDAR OF EVENTS POSTED ON CLUB WEBSITE
Please see the Calendar of Events on www.remoterc.com

> MODEL OF THE MONTH (M.O.M.)
Bill Hipp presented his kit-built “Early Birdie” and Larry Banner showed
off his E-Flite Taylorcraft. Both of these were very nice aircraft indeed.
The group present voted Bill Hipp’s model as the MOM.

“LIVE-AND-LEARN” DEMONSTRATION
Dan Johnson gave a wonderful presentation on the intricacies of glow
fuel mixing and components. He had very nice show-and-tell items to pass
around as well, especially interesting was an “antique” glow plug, which
resembled a very small spark plug. Dan explained that fuel can be custom-
mixed utilizing 4 basic components: Methanol, Nitromethane, Oil, and Castor
Oil. Thank you Dan for your time and efforts!

VII. ADJOURNMENT (CONCLUSION OF OFFICIAL MINUTES)
The meeting and event adjourned ≈20:35. The next club meeting is
scheduled for Tuesday, February 03, 2009 at The Piano Gallery.

X.
MINUTETAKERS NOTATIONS, COMMENTS, & RAMBLINGS OF YORE
(minutia… We’re in AMA’s District X, hence the “X”. )
The weather has really put a dent in field work plans. Everyone’s
patience is really appreciated in the re-re-re-scheduling that is necessary as a
result!!!
Also, it was mentioned during different times and places during the
last few weeks, but I wasn’t astute enough to keep detailed records... many
individuals have mentioned at many different times how much the efforts of
everyone in the club was and is appreciated in getting the field up-and-
running. LaRonzo, as 2008 President, did a fantastic job in coordinating
officer’s meetings and several other meetings. However, at the beginning of
2008, the officer’s meetings were instrumental in getting everyone headed in
the right direction. From there, the right people with the right skills and
knowledge really took the bull by the horns, as it were, and things got done,
didn’t they? There’s really not enough room here to describe the inter-
workings of it all and I don’t think I could write it down if there were. Just
know, a lot of people did a lot of work and committed monetary and
particularly non-monetary contributions which got us where we are today.
We really have a wonderfully diverse representation of quality people in our
club and I know I’m not alone in stating it’s a pretty cool thing... in the
parlance of our times! There’s still a lot of work to be done, but the fruits of
everyone’s collective labors will reveal themselves for current club members
as well as generations to come. Thank you to all! Dean
