There were 22 members in attendance.
The minutes were read by Ray Peterson. Correction to minutes were made and approved by the members.
Casey asked if we had any visitors or new members to introduce. Doug Prettyman introduced his friend Leon Schultz. Gary Stevenson also was introduced along with Dean Childs. Both were accepted as new members in the club. Dean Childs and his son were the recipients of our clubs drawing at the fly-in and won the Sig Senior Cadet. Casey also read an e-mail that was sent to him from Dean Childs.
Casey asked for a treasurer’s report. Dennis Church reported that we had $27,618.99 in our account. It was reported the Fly-in grossed $2592.00. Casey also requested that the members would like to see a monthly accounting of monies received and monies or checks that were paid out.
Casey turned the time over to Jerry Law and Larry Romberger who are working with the Mayor in determining our future at our present flying site and also any new development that may be available for an alternate site in case Sand Hollow does not materialize. Jerry reported that the scheduled Jet Rally in May 18th and 19th could be in jeopardy. Jerry also said that Dan Johnson said that there might be a conflict with that date with another Club.
Jerry reported that the old water treatment plant could be a possible site along with other considerations that the Mayor could help us in locating.
Bill Hipp reported that he is continuing with his efforts communicating with Laura Melling (Sand Hollow Mgr) and working out any issues that have been verbalized through phone calls.
Casey thanked all who helped in any way with our President’s Day Fly-in. It was reported that we had 48 registered pilots, and over 100 planes. Casey reported that it takes a lot of work behind the scenes and during the event to make it a success. And with bad weather on Friday, Saturday ended up being the only day to keep us from losing money on the event. Casey made mention of Duke Smith and Dan Zabo who gave us some half time exhibition flying which is always enjoyed by the public and pilots alike.
Ted Taylor reported that he had talked with the Mayor of Hurricane for any possible area that might be available for a flying site. In essence, the Mayor said NO GO.
LaRonzo Lott reported that Dave Thompson was going to have his trachea-tube removed and that he could be home next Wednesday March 7th. LaRonzo also requested that the $260.00 that was made by the food wagon be donated to the GeeBee Fund. Doug Prettyman made a motion to approve, with a second by Dave Alldredge. The motion was approved by the members present.
Ray Peterson talked about the Food Wagon and tried to clarify who owns the Wagon and what we should expect in proceeds from each event that is held. LaRonzo make it clear that the Food Wagon is owned by him alone and that a great deal of time before and after is spent in preparation for a flying event. Up front monies are paid for by LaRonzo and any monies made and proceeds given to the Club will be determined by LaRonzo.
Cameron Blair was invited to the meeting to discuss improvements that could be made to our website and to make it more user friendly. Ray Peterson suggested that we approve a 4-hour block of time at $25.00 hr. to be used towards that purpose. Lloyd Apple made a motion, second by Doug Prettyman. Motion approved.
Bill Boice talked about working with the ROTC youth at Dixie H.S. They used a simulator at the High School and then planned on using a buddy box at the flying site the following Saturday. Thank you Bill Boice for your time and effort in behalf of the public and our youth.
The fuel raffle was won by Jerry Stevenson. Thanks once again Lorin and the Hobby Hut who continue to support our Club.
Casey Scott adjourned the meeting at 8:30 PM.
