Minutes of Remote Possibilities R/C Club
Meeting January 2006
Mike Jensen called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM. Minutes of November’s
meeting were read and approved.
There were 37 in attendance.
Mike Jensen asked if anyone had heard on the radio about Major road construction near the proposed new Airport that could affect our time at the present air field. No one could supply any new information.
Visitors Charles Newmann, and Dan Walters were introduced to the Club members. Both visitors were approved and accepted as Club members. They also paid their 2006 membership dues at that meeting.
Mike Jensen asked membership present if they were pleased with the current Website and if they had any concerns about its present format and usability. In general it was supported by those present.
Mike Jensen made mention of a need for a safety officer. It was reported about several accidents at the Flying field and close calls that could have resulted in serious injuries. It was mentioned that we need to follow AMA guidelines.
Mike Jensen also talked about the need for flight instructors. There were names of those who have served in the past and a need to train and certify new instructors to benefit new pilots who should be able to show their competency and learn proper safety procedures.
Dave Thompson was recognized from the floor. He asked that there should be a vote and approval of Glen Fee as news letter editor. Glen Fee was nominated and approved for that position.
Mike Jensen asked for a financial report. Dennis Church reported that there was $21,435.23 currently in our account.
Mike Jensen asked for volunteers to help with the upcoming Presidents Day Fly-in.
(a) Larry Banner said he would help organize the Gate Committee.
(b) Carl Waldvogel said he would help with Impound.
(c) Dave Thompson and LaRonzo Lott would work the Food Wagon.
(d) Glen Fee would handle the Advertising.
(e) Dennis Church would help organize field cleanup which was scheduled for about 3:00 PM the Thursday before the Fly-in. (Feb. 23). It was also mentioned a need for E-mail to be sent about volunteer help for cleanup.
(f) Lloyd Apple said he would work as Flight Director
Mike Jensen mentioned a need for a Flyer and Signup list for the event, also putting info on the Website.
Brigg Lewis was asked about a possible time for flying indoor Electrics. He said he was trying to get a place and time for the end of January.
The Hobby Hut donated a gallon of 15% Powermaster fuel, which was won by Leonard Bayless out of Cedar City Flying Club.
Bill Hipp asked why food was not provided at the New Years Day Fun Fly as in the past. Mike Jensen responded by saying that because the Fun Fly was held on Sunday that he was concerned about low numbers showing up verses it falling on a week day.
